Fængslet 10 years

It’s the Prison’s anniversary.
One of the big ones: 10 years

The 10-year anniversary was celebrated with a blast of a party. The guests were welcomed with music, good food, delicious drinks, and more – accompanied with a retrospective of the great results achieved in the past years. All wrapped in a gold shinning visual identity.

Challenge

The event needed a visual direction that did not betray the fundamental brand identity of the Prison. It was important that the planned retrospective didn’t become a dusty history lecture and thereby losing focus.

Solution

A visual mini-identity with an overall look and logo for the event. A stroke of genius if you ask us.

As foundation for the anniversary logo, we have the actual prison seen from above, illustrating the number ten. The background for the logo and the identity is a prison wall repaired according to the Japanese art form Kintsugi (金継ぎ).

Originally Kintsugi is a Japanese art of repairing porcelain by mending areas of breakage with gold. Kintsugi is based on a philosophy to treat breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise. Just like the history of the Prison is something not to hide or forgot.

In close dialogue with the Prison, we animated a timeline showing all the historical events at the exact location where it happened within the prison walls. All produced together with existing video material and small animations. And not to forget – all wrapped in gold!

To tie the whole evening together in the identity, invitations, photo walls, stickers and other small things were produced. The Prison was visually covered in a both raw and elegant style that highlighted that this milestone deserved to be celebrated.

For the host of the evening, Ane Cortzen, we made a simple animated presentation with key figures about the Prison, from which she could present.

As an element with direct reference to the Prison and its history, we find 10 lines scratched into the wall. Just as a prisoner counting the years passing.
